JAMB NIN NEWS
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has defended its partnership with National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) aimed at achieving mandatory acquisition of the National Identification Number (NIN) for candidates desirous of taking the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
This came on the heels of invitation to the board by the House of Representatives’ Committee on Tertiary Education to throw more light on the partnership between JAMB and NIMC on the use of the National Identification Number (NIN) for the registration of intending candidates.

The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, and his counterpart from NIMC, Engr. Aliyu Aziz, informed members of the committee that the use of NIN was a directive of the Federal Government which must be compiled with.
In addition, the meeting served to highlight the fact that the law mandating the domiciliation of all biometric data with NIMC was a creation of the National Assembly. To allay the fear over the proposed partnership, the Registrar disclosed the various method put in place by the Board to ensure that candidates are not put under any pressure in their bid to register for the 2020 UTME.
